College Search Tip #1
Don’t rule out a school because your parents think the school is in a “bad area”. Many perceptions of cities are wrong … Or at least off. Schedule a campus tour and check it out. You may be sacrificing a great opportunity because of a few old buildings and 80 years of negative stigma.

The title of this post may seem pretty obvious … But over the past few weeks while reading applications I have stumbled upon (and have been reminded of) a few pieces of terrible advice many students are getting during their application process. I am going to address two of them here in hopes that this post will be shared, and these bad ideas stop spreading.

Advice for parents
Do not start an application for your child. When we find out, it shows us that they are not self-starters. College applications are a good time to push your son/daughter to make important life choices. If they do not apply, maybe collegeis not for them.
